What is so special about Argyle Winery?

We are so delighted to be partnering with Argyle Winery on March 22, 2018 at 7PM for our second installation in our wine dinner series. We will be serving a 4-course menu, perfectly curated to match the amazing selection of wine we ill be showcasing that night.

Situated in the heart of Willamette Valley in Oregon, this is sure to be a special treat to the wine lovers of Central New York.

“There was a pioneering spirit growing grapes in Oregon, and I felt I could make a difference here” said Rollin Soles, Argyle Founder.

... and so he did!

Argyle is known for making exceptional sparkling wines, and of course Pinot Noir.

SPARKLING:

“…in awe of and delighted with Argyle’s sparkling wines” —Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, February 2014

Today, Argyle’s Tirage Library in Dundee, Oregon has Sparkling Wines still aging on the yeast (‘en tirage’), dating back to their first vintage in 1987. Argyle’s legacy is best represented by their Extended Tirage Brut which is aged on the yeast for ten years and ‘Disgorged on Demand’ to maintain freshness and complexity of the wine.

In the wine industry’s two most influential publications, the Wine Spectator and the Wine Advocate, Argyle has produced the world’s highest rated Sparkling Wines outside of Champagne.

PINOT NOIR

The key to it all is in the vines. They have innovated across their vineyards and moved their viticulture toward the cutting edge. Planting old world clones of Pinot Noir using high density spacing on high elevation blocks in rich, volcanic soils has been the hallmark for success for Argyle Pinot Noir. The diversity of these blocks of Pinot give their winemakers a spectrum of vitality to select into pinpoint trademark house blends.

SUSTAINABILITY

Did you know that Argyle Winery is LIVE? LIVE (Low Input Viticulture & Enology) is a nonprofit organization providing education and certification for vineyards using international standards of sustainable viticulture practices in wine grape production. Argyle is very proud to be one of the first LIVE Certified Sustainable wineries in Oregon and to support LIVE as very worthy cause.

WELCOME TO THE NUTHOUSE

One of the many reasons we gravitate towards this winery is that it is real people making grade-a juice. What we mean by that is Argyle Winery has a great way of cutting through the snobbery of the wine industry and letting their product speak for itself.

... and who doesn't love that their fearless leader rocks a handlebar mustache.

Rollin Soles, Argyle founder and Nate Klostermann, Argyle winemaker, on a roll!

They even have a wine called Nuthouse! According to Argyle, it's "taking its name from the hazelnut plant that once was home to our original winery in Dundee, Oregon, Nuthouse is a provocative, singular expression of Pinot Noir. No one underestimates Nuthouse Pinot Noir. The utterance of ‘Nuthouse’ brings a smile to the faces of everyone who encounters it. The self-effacing take on our own history captures the sense of humor and story telling in the Argyle personality while commanding serious respect among critics, collectors and the trade."
