Proud To Partner With Clean The World

The Brewster Inn is proud to partner with Clean The World to do our part in increasing global access to essential hygiene products. Items like soap, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and lotion may seem like a common convenience here in the US, but are still a precious commodity in other parts of the world.

Since their start in 2009, they have grown to have 8000+ hotel and resort members across the US. During that time 63 million bars of soap have been delivered to 127 countries.

In 2021 alone, guests enjoyed 4,000 nights at our property. Each stay uses at least 5 different hygiene products. After a guest has departed, it isn't uncommon for there to be unused or partially used products left in the room. Instead of tossing them in the trash, they will now be transported to a facility where they are processed, sanitized and prepared for re-use. Our tiny inn alone could provide approximately 20,000 people with access to hygiene products.

The Global Hygiene Revolution

Clean the World is a social enterprise with the mission of saving millions of lives around the world. We distribute recycled soap and hygiene products from more than 8,000+ hotel and resort partners to children and families in countries with a high death rate due to acute respiratory infection (pneumonia) and diarrheal diseases (cholera) – which are two of the top killers of children under 5.

Clean the World accomplishes its mission by collecting and recycling discarded soap and plastic amenity bottles from participating hospitality partners. Through the distribution of these and other donated hygiene products to impoverished people, help prevent millions of hygiene-related illnesses and deaths every year.

Turning Trash Into Treasure

Clean the World partners with hotel properties across the world to recycle their discarded soap and bottled amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash. All soap is recycled into new bars, and all bottles are now either recycled or converted to energy. Participating hotels collect these hygiene products at their properties using Clean the World boxes. Once boxes are full, hotels ship them back to a Clean the World facility.

People With A Purpose

Hand washing with soap significantly reduces the impact of two fatal diseases: acute respiratory infection and diarrheal disease. These are two of the top killers of children under 5 years old. To help save those lives, recycled soap is the primary ingredient in Clean the World’s global hygiene revolution.
